Hemp Seed Oil Description:
Hemp seed oil comes from the hemp plant, Cannabis Sativa. It does come from the same plant genus as marijuana, but they are very different. Hemp comes from cold compressing the hemp seeds whereas marijuana comes from processing the stalks, leaves, and flowers. In cosmetics, hemp seed oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid, omega-6 fatty acid linoleic acid and other trace amounts of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Fatty acids act as an emollient which helps to replenish and moisturise the skin, scalp and hair by strengthening the surface against moisture loss. Hemp seed oil contains plant sterols which help reduce cholesterol levels in the body and phospholipids which help the absorption and transportation of omega fatty acids throughout the body. Hemp seed oil is also a source of Vitamin E which is a nutrient that contains antioxidants which is beneficial for hair growth and reducing UV damage.
